Welcome to Turnstyle Games
Turnstyle Games Forum

Welcome to Turnstyle Games where turn-based online games are developed and hosted. Here you will find games you can join, games you can watch and experimental games you can help develop. You can even develop your own games -- talk to the game master about the developer program.

Best of all, it's all free!

Poke around -- most games have a public gallery from which you can watch (AKA "The Rail") -- and if something looks interesting, you can register on the site and then sign up to play.

The idea behind Turnstyle Games has been with me for a long time. I developed a turn based game and I had a lot of ideas for others but I discovered that there is a lot of work that goes into the basic infrastructure of a turn based game long before you ever get to the game part. Keeping track of (and authenticating) players, running the turns, starting and stopping the games, having a place where players can find you and many other pieces must all be in place before you can test the first turn.

Most of this could be done for the game designer by a correctly designed web site. So I've been thinking about what that site would be like. And now I'm breathing life in to that idea.

Besides just being convenient to the development of a game, a site with multiple games will attract more players to each game. I might have a dozen people who will play my new game and my friend might have 2 dozen (he's more popular than I am). It's likely that some of the players will want to try two or more different games. So by having both games on the same site I might get 20 players while he now gets 30.

Eventually, when we have a lot of games on the site, players will come to the site and will find games they like here (as distinct from the other scenarios where the players come to a game and find other games).

But, of course, all this is just vision at this point. At this moment all I have is a domain name and a mocked up front page. Not even a very good mock-up, in fact.
